Belle of Baton Rouge Casino in Louisiana

The Belle of Baton Rouge is one of two casinos found in the state capitol of Louisiana. The Belle is a riverboat which holds a thousand slot machines and runs nearly 20 table games every day. The boat sits dockside on the Mississippi River.

Next to the casino is the Sheraton Hotel. The casino and the hotel were once part of the Argosy operation in Baton Rouge. Both were sold to the Penn National Gaming company in 2005, which renamed the casino around the same time. The casino floor has 29,000 square feet, while the hotel has 300 rooms, including suites.

I have to say, I don't like the new name much. It doesn't roll off the tongue very well, though I guess most of the locals call it "the Belle". I guess it would make a lot more sense if there were a string of such casinos across the nation. It kind of reminds me of a name like the Ballpark in Arlington.

Casino Table Games at the Belle

Craps is given three tables at the Belle. That's a respectable amount, though I would like to see more action. The Belle is home to blackjack players.

There are two dozen blackjack tables at the casino, so you'll never want for a game of 21 at the Belle of Baton Rouge.

Restaurants and Buffets

The Atrium Buffet serves three different buffet menus per day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. The nearby Atrium Lounge is for gamblers looking to collect their thoughts for a few minutes.

Churchill's In the Atrium is another nearby eating establishment.

The Butler's Pantry Deli serves sandwiches and other deli style foods. Butler's serves three meals per day, too.

River Roast Cafe serves a cafe menu, while Shucks On The Levee is a seafood bar. With Baton Rouge near enough to New Orleans to have fresh seafood, they have a nice oyster.

There is also a nearby sports bar named Argosy Landing, which is a holdover from when Argosy owned the location. This venue is large enough to host the occasional fight card or musical concern.
