Dice Control - Stance and Setting the DiceSome Tips for How to Best Stand While Dice Setting in CrapsWhen tossing the dice, remember that the closer you are to the back wall, the better it is for your throw. Being close to the back wall means that you have to impart less energy to throw the dice. This translates into the bounce of the dice having less energy and therefore they will not randomize as much when they strike the table and bounce off the back. The further away from the back wall you are, the more difficult it will be to control the dice. It’s all a matter of energy and applying it properly. Many experts recommend that you stand in the Stick Right One position, which is situated to the immediate right of the stickperson. This is about as close as you can legally stand to the back wall. Of course, you should also pay attention to the length of table which you are playing at. Most craps tables are 12 feet long, but longer tables certainly do exist.
When throwing the dice, it is important to develop a stance which is stable and comfortable. Above all, it must allow you freedom of arm movement for you pendulum swing. There are two recommended stances. Note: All of these tips assume the shooter is right-handed. Reverse the directions for left handed shooters. The Upright StanceIn this stance, your stomach should be up against the rail. You should stand with your feet about a shoulder length apart. Place you left hand on the rail, and then lean over as far as you comfortably can. Some shooters will stand up on their toes so that they can lean over even more. Select a spot about 6 inches from the back wall where you want your dice to land. Exhale, then hold your breath and go into your swinging motion. The BenderIn this stance, feet should still be about shoulder length apart. But instead of supporting yourself with your left hand holding the rail, you bend over with you left elbow on the rail. Either one of these stances is perfectly suitable for the precision shooter. It primarily comes down to a matter of comfort and whether or not you can swing your arm freely. Experiment with both to find the stance which best suits you. If you are a right or left-hander shooting from stick left or stick right, then your stance is going to be a little different. In these cases, you should stand with your left or right side/hip against the rail. Try to make sure that your body is as square as possible with the back wall. Lean over the table, placing the majority of your weight on your right leg, assuming that you’re standing stick right and are a right-handed shooter. If you are standing stick left and are a left-handed shooter, then you should place most of your weight on your left foot. From this position, keep in mind that your arm will not be able to do a full pendulum swing. The dice may also tend to travel towards the back wall at an angle. Compensate for this by putting more rotation on the dice. When you are shooting the dice, do not lose focus even for a second. Even after you’ve tossed, it is a good idea to watch the motionless dice and be thinking about how you’re going to arrange them when they are passed to you. The person controlling the stick will not usually pass the dice to you set on a 7. Most often, you’ll receive the dice showing whatever number you just rolled. If you’ve toked the stickman, you might even get them back with the dice set you like to use. If you get a stick person like this, don’t be stingy with the tokes, as this will make things a lot simpler for you. Whatever the case, watch the dice closely and see which numbers are located where. As they are pushed over to you, be thinking about what set you want and the quickest way to get them there. Just like pitching in baseball, the proper dice control swing involves various mechanics. If your stance is off, then your toss will suffer. The same goes for the mental aspect of the game. By following the simple steps above, you can best ensure that your game will be as solid as it possibly can be. USA Casinos - Connecticut Casinos - Foxwoods Resort Casino - Mohegan Sun Casino |
